Green Recycling cover the Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, and Suffolk areas for the collection and recycling of all different types of wood including;
- Virgin wood
- Pallets
- Doors, worktops, desktops
- Trees
- Staging
- Plywood
- Sleepers
- Telegraph poles
- Cable reels
We collect from offices, factories, shops, local authorities and schools.
| We can provide skips for smaller collections. | We can provide RO/RO (Roll on/Roll off) containers for larger bulk collections of wood. |
What happens to the wood next?
Once collected the wood is brought back to our MRF (Materials Recycling Facility) where each load is quality assessed and weighed on our on-site weighbridge.
| Yes please - | Clean/dry wood |
| No thank you - | Oily contaminated wood |
Once this is completed the wood is tipped into bays for sorting where our 360° crane reduces the material to a more manageable size. The wood is then separated into 2 grades;
All waste is then shredded to particle size of sub 35mm. This enables us to get more weight on each vehicle thus reducing vehicle movements and carbon footprint.
The final destination
The wood chip is then loaded by loading shovel onto a waiting articulated lorry. The vehicle will hold 28 tons of wood and we aim to maximise weight on each truck to reduce vehicle movements and carbon footprint.
When the wood reaches the mill it is re-processed, de-dusted and then graded by size. It is then ready to have any waste/contamination removed before being turned into new wood products such as;
- Animal bedding – from gerbils to cattle
- Mulch for landscaping – paths, flower beds etc
- Children’s play areas for soft landing
- Low grade wood to be sent to biomass energy recovery facilities/power generation
|
This completes the feed loop of this product and gives our customers complete peace of mind of where their products end up. Additionally Green Recycling audits all hauliers and re-processors on a regular basis to check waste carriers and site licenses/exemptions.
Why should I recycle wood?
- It is good for the environment
- It saves trees from being cut down
- Less waste to landfill which generates methane gas as the material decomposes
- It saves money
